Today was our wedding anniversary. It was 14 years ago when Heather and I first met and 12 years ago since we got married. The weather on that day was much difference to the weather today. Back in 2002, it was a sunny, but windy and cold day. We had a look back at our wedding album and it's incredible how many people who shared the day with us are no longer here. Didn't seem that long ago, but it shows you how much things can change in a short time.

Heather and I both had a bad night's sleep, so making it through the day with a bouncy Mikey was hard work. In order to keep him entertained, we had Scooby Doo on the TV and we got his Hungry Hungry Hippos game out. It's a loud game, but we had fun playing it for about half an hour and he'd go back to it during the day several times. Later in the day, we went up to play in his room and we played the muslin game. Basically, we just throw muslins at each other. Not much of a game I hear you say, but it keeps us both entertained and Mikey likes it.
I had initially booked us both in for dinner at the Tickled Trout in Wye. However, they have some new staff and they didn't realise that they don't do food after 6pm on a Sunday. Good thing I checked the booking the day before. So, I got us booked into a past favourite of ours, the Honest Miller in Brook. We've never had a bad meal there in the past and despite a change of management, it was still a fabulous meal. Our next door neighbour Emma cam over to babysit. Her little girl hadn't been well earlier in the day, but that magic linctus we call Calpol brought her temperature down.

The restaurant (and the pub itself) was empty, so we had the restaurant area to ourselves. Nice, quiet with subdued lighting and candles on all the tables. For a starter, we had the smoked salmon and prawn platter. Very nicely presented and delicious too. For mains, Heather had a rack of ribs and I had sausages of the day, which were lamb and mint. It was very nice to see proper food rather than catering food being served. These were proper sausages and the mash was proper mashed potato, not instant. We came away very satisfied with the wonderful meal we;d just enjoyed and we even have 10% of our next bill, so we'll definitely be going back. This is a great little pub and really needs more business.
